The Client Medication module records individual treatment plans for the clients and keeps track of their daily medications.
It is divided into three main tabs:
- Medicine Management records individual medicine details
- Treatment Plan keeps a track of treatment plans for an individual client
- Daily Medication records daily medications given to a client
The medication module is covered by role-based security in the Permissions Manager. This secures sections of the Client Medications area that only authorised users can access. This will need to set-up prior to using the medication module.
Medicine Management
The Medicine Management allows organisations to add details of the medicine. This includes details such as Dose Form (tablet, capsule, drops, ointment), Unit Measure (ml, mg), Route (by mouth, ear drops, eye drops) and add any side effects of the medicine.
You can also export a report of the medication.
When adding a new medication, a form will open with all the required fields. Enter the information and click Save. Your new medication will now be listed.
Alternatively, click Cancel to exit adding a new medication.
When Editing a current medication, the same form will open with the details already there to be changed.
Treatment Plan
Organisations can then create individual Treatment Plans for each client. The Treatment Plan records the start and end/review dates of the medication, name of medication (selected from a list of medications entered in the Medicine management tab), dose, quantity and the frequency of when the medication is due (e.g. 4 times a day, every 3 hours, etc.).
The Treatment Plans can be later extended, renewed and cloned.
The Treatment Plans are also able to be exported to excel.
Below is an example of adding a new medicine to a clients treatment plan. Once the Medicine name is selected, it will populate some fields with the relevant details and show what fields needs to be completed.
Daily Medications
Based on the Treatment Plans, Daily Medications report can be generated for all the clients for any given day. This allows staff to record when a medication was given. There are also options to record if the medication was missed (e.g. Refused, Spat Out, Vomited, Not required, Advised by GP not to administer, On Leave, Replacement medication given, etc.)
You can also Add a new PRN (as needed), allowing staff to add medications without a Treatment Plan. PRN additions will be coloured with a green background to easily see when a PRN was given.
The Daily Medications can also be exported to Excel.
Staff (if given security permission) can edit Daily Medications that have already been submitted and recorded as given. This is covered by role-based security to ensure that only authorised users can make these changes. For audit purposes, there is also a "Comments" field to record the reason for the edit, along with the user who made the change and the date/time of the update.
The details on the Daily Medication will now reflect the changes.
