Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Webcare account.
Your organisation may require 2FA before you can sign in to Webcare. You can set up two-factor authentication from the Staff > Login tab.
After entering your username and password
Webcare may ask you to verify your identity using an authenticator.
You can use either:
- Webcare Authenticator in the Webcare Mobile App, or
- a third-party authenticator such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator
Your organisation may require 2FA before you can sign in to Webcare.
Option 1 — Use Webcare Authenticator in the Mobile App
Use this option if you already use the Webcare Mobile App.
Step 1 — Open the Webcare Mobile App
Open the Webcare app on your mobile device and sign in to your Mobile App account.
Step 2 — Open Authenticator
From the Webcare Mobile App, open Authenticator.
If Authenticator has not previously been set up, follow the on-screen instructions to register it for your Webcare account.
Step 3 — Use Webcare Authenticator when signing in
When you sign in to Webcare with your username and password, Webcare may send a sign-in request to your registered mobile device. Select Generate Access Code to generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code into Verify your identity screen to complete the Sign-In process.
Option 2 — Use Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator
Use this option if you prefer to use a third-party authenticator application.
Supported applications include:
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Google Authenticator
You will first need one of these apps installed on your mobile device.
Your authenticator app will display a 6-digit code. Enter the current 6-digit code into Verify your identity screen to complete the Sign-In process.
The code changes regularly, so make sure you enter the current code shown in your authenticator app.
Which option should I use?
- Use Webcare Authenticator if you already use the Webcare Mobile App and want your Webcare sign-in verification in the same application.
- Use Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator if you already use one of these applications for other services or prefer a separate authenticator app.
Your organisation may provide specific instructions about which option you should use.
If you change or lose your phone
If you replace or lose the device containing your authenticator, contact your Webcare administrator.
Do not register another person's device or a shared device unless your organisation specifically allows it.
Your administrator may need to remove the old authenticator before a new one can be registered.
If you receive a sign-in request you did not initiate
Do not approve the request or provide an authentication code to anyone.
Contact your administrator if you believe someone else may be attempting to access your Webcare account.
